At Jasmine's Training & Education, we deliver First Aid in an Education and Care Setting (HLTAID012) for childcare educators, kindergarten staff, outside school hours care (OSHC), early learning centres, schools and education professionals across Cranbourne and surrounding South Eastern suburbs.
This nationally recognised course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to recognise emergencies and provide immediate and effective first aid in an education and care setting, in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and national clinical standards. Learners develop confidence in assessing and managing illnesses and injuries affecting infants, children and adults, including providing CPR, using an automated external defibrillator (AED), and responding to common childhood emergencies such as asthma, anaphylaxis, choking, fractures and envenomation. This course includes both theory and practical components, ensuring participants can confidently respond to real-life emergencies while meeting workplace and legal requirements. |

Assessment
Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
Documentation:
Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario
Theory assessment:
A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.
- Perform CPR on an adult (including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
- Perform CPR on a child
- Perform CPR on an infant
- Manage a child experiencing anaphylaxis
- Manage a child experiencing asthma
- Manage a choking child and infant
- Manage a child with non-life-threatening bleeding requiring minor wound cleaning
- Manage a child experiencing shock
- Manage a child with a nosebleed
- Manage a child with a fracture and dislocation
- Manage a child with a sprain and strain
- Manage a child with envenomation (snake or funnel-web spider bite)
Documentation:

Pre-requisites
An individual undertaking this course will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:
An official form of photo identification (e.g. driver’s licence, passport, or student ID)
Physical capability to perform CPR on the floor and meet the demands of practical demonstration skills
Learning: Follow instructions, ask for help, and learn from feedback
Reading: Read short texts such as signs and step-by-step instructions
Writing: Write short notes or complete simple forms
Oral communication: Listen carefully and communicate clearly
Numeracy: Use simple numbers and counting
Digital Literacy: Use a mobile phone or basic device to access learning resources and complete online tasks
Online study requirements:
Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other electronic device with internet access to complete the online learning and assessment components.
