At Jasmine's Training & Education, we deliver Subcutaneous Injection & Insulin Training for disability support workers, aged care staff, and community care teams across Cranbourne and surrounding South Eastern suburbs.

Supporting participants who require medication via subcutaneous injection is a high intensity support activity that requires safe medication practices, infection prevention and control, and careful adherence to participant-specific Health Support Plans. This course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to safely support participants requiring insulin and other prescribed subcutaneous medications in line with workplace policies, procedures and the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptor for Subcutaneous Injections.

Learners develop an understanding of medication safety principles, insulin administration, injection site selection and rotation, infection prevention and control, sharps safety, recognising adverse reactions, and situations requiring escalation. The course also explores participant-centred care, safe documentation, and the importance of working within scope of practice.

While practical training uses insulin administration as the primary learning scenario, the principles taught apply to a range of prescribed subcutaneous medications administered in accordance with a participant's Health Support Plan.

This course includes both theory and practical components, supporting learners to confidently perform simulated subcutaneous injections and apply safe injection practices in real-world care settings.
